PLANNING YOUR DEMOLITION PROJECT
Every demolition project is a little different. The size of the structure, the materials involved, site access, and your city's requirements all affect the cost, the timeline, and the steps needed before work begins.
The answers below are general information to help you plan. For project-specific guidance, we recommend a free on-site estimate.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Here are the questions we're asked most often about demolition costs, permits, and safety.

HOW MUCH DOES DEMOLITION COST?
Cost depends on the size of the structure, materials, site access, hazardous materials testing, and city requirements. Small interior tear-outs can cost a few thousand dollars or less, while whole-house demolition is a much larger investment. The best way to get an accurate price is a free on-site estimate from our team.

DO I NEED A PERMIT FOR DEMOLITION?
Most full demolitions, pool removals, and structural wall removals require permits from your city's building department. Minor interior work may be covered under your remodel permit. Requirements vary by city, so check with your local building department before work begins.

IS AN ASBESTOS SURVEY REQUIRED?
In Orange County and much of Southern California, South Coast AQMD Rule 1403 requires an asbestos survey by a certified consultant before any demolition, and the AQMD must be notified at least 10 working days before demolition begins. Some renovation projects also require a survey. If asbestos is found, it must be removed by a licensed abatement contractor first.

What to expect before, during, and after demolition day.
01
HOW LONG DOES DEMOLITION TAKE?
Interior tear-outs can often be finished in a day or two, while whole-house demolition and pool removal usually take longer. Permits, surveys, and utility disconnects can add time before work starts, so plan ahead.
02
DO UTILITIES NEED TO BE DISCONNECTED?
For full structure demolition, gas, electric, and water service typically must be shut off and disconnected by your utility providers before work begins. Your city may also require the sewer line to be capped.
03
DO YOU HAUL AWAY THE DEBRIS?
Yes. Debris removal and site cleanup are part of our demolition services, so your site is ready for the next phase of work.
04
DO I NEED TO BE HOME DURING DEMOLITION?
Not always. For many projects, we just need site access and a way to reach you if questions come up. We'll confirm the details during your estimate.
